The primary objective of this redesign was to optimize and establish a flawlessly streamlined SKU replenishment experience for Store Managers.

Store managers have traditionally manually recorded SKUs for item replenishment and faced the challenge of resubmitting replenishment errors at Home Depot stores. To address these issues, I conducted several user interviews to identify pain points associated with the existing desktop version of SKU replenishment. After synthesizing my findings, I collaborated with my developers and Project Manager to create an app that streamlines the replenishment process.

SKU Scanner Feature that loads SKUs

The SKU Scanner allows users to easily upload SKUs into the form rather than manually entering them into a desktop version.

SKU Request Form w/ SKU Validation

Managers are able to enter SKUs, which will automatically get validated, and be able to add up to 20 rows of SKUs

SKU Confirmation Page

For an extra layer of validation, we included a confirmation screen to ensure the manager is able to accurately submit their replenishment form.

User and Store Authentication

For an extra layer of validation, we included a confirmation screen to ensure the manager is able to accurately submit their replenishment form.

Background

Imagine this Supply Chain Scenario...

🚫 - There isn't a version available for mobile or handheld devices.

🚫 - The user needs to manually type in SKUs, which leads to inaccuracy.

🚫 - Since there is no SKU Validation, the turnaround time is long

The Original Desktop Form

Revised Desktop Form

Also got to work on redesigning the desktop version for users who would prefer to use this option.

Areas of Opportunity ✍️

Response Time
Upon form submission via desktop, the bot typically takes on an average of 10 hours (with a best-case scenario 2 hours) to provide a response.

SKU Validation
7% of all tickets, approximately 10,767 tickets per year, are found to have invalid SKUs. Invalid SKUs increases turnaround time.

Adoptability
Currently 2% of all tickets are submitted manually (pen and pencil)

Project Discovery

Findings from conducting user interviews with 8 managers

After conducting User Interviews, the key points I focused on for the redesign included:

1. Enhancing the mobile app is essential to streamline the experience for both store managers and associates.

2. The inclusion of a scanning feature in the mobile interface will significantly reduce the time required for users to input store SKUs.

3. Validating SKUs is crucial to minimize errors during the submission process, given that SKUs consist of 10 digits and are prone to potential entry mistakes.

User Testing & Revisions

Iterating after stand-ups and tests

Incorporating an edit feature on the confirmation page, along with options for deletion and rescanning, is essential.

The user can manually add more rows (if they want to do it manually). The app will also automatically add rows when using the scanner.

Project Results + What's Next

Implemented a desktop to mobile app transition with new features ranging from deleting and adding rows, SKU scanning, etc

Tested 4 out of 6 redesign using standard user testing and Home Depot UX methods.

Replenishment request turnaround time saved per year: 21,534 hours

Other projects

I worked on 2 other projects after this one, email me and we can chat about them!

FALL 2023
Redesigned a landing page for store analysts. Consolidated two outdated dashboards that created confusion amongst analysts. Followed strict adherence to corporate-mandated UX processes requiring multiple design iterations in Figma and multiple user interviews with seasoned and new analysts.

SPRING 2024
I collaborate closely with my fellow UX designers, developers, and project managers at The Home Depot, contributing to the development of a platform designed to streamline inventory planning and execution. Our goal is to establish an end-to-end user experience that minimizes errors, automates manual tasks, offers robust monitoring capabilities, and enhances the efficiency of replenishment and product transitions.
